Intro: Whether you’re a music lover or like to listen to a good tune now and then, it’s always fun to find new songs and artists to explore. However, it can be hard to know where to start with so many musicians out there. So, we’ve put together a list of five underappreciated songs that are worth checking out. If you’re looking for something new, these tunes are sure to satisfy you. Enjoy!
1. Because – The Beatles:
Because was released in 1969 on the Beatles’ Abbey Road album. Although The Beatles are exceptionally well known, many of their songs do not deserve recognition. This song initially was going to be a part of Strawberry Fields Forever, but it eventually evolved into its title track. “Because” is a simple love song with very little music compared to other Beatles songs. The song is sung by Lennon but was written by McCartney. To many, it’s known as the most excellent love song of all time.
2. Boyfriend – Selena Gomez:
Although she is famous for her role as Alex Russo on Wizards of Waverly Place, Selena Gomez has also released several successful albums. “Boyfriend” was released in 2011 on her album “When the Sun Goes Down.” It’s lighter and more fun to listen to and has a unique sound that will keep you intrigued. Selena Gomez is a well-known singer and actress, but her songs often come without much recognition. The song peaked at number two in Canada and made it to number two on both the US Mainstream Top 40 and the US Bubbling Under Hot 100 Singles. It has since been certified gold in both the US and Canada, reaching over 500,000 copies sold in each country: visit https://u1337x.org/ to listen to it right now.
3. Can’t See The Light – Reuben And The Dark:
This song is from Reuben And The Dark’s 2012 album, Of Space and Time. It features more electronic elements than some of their other songs, making it unique in their already-unique discography. More instruments are included with this track that gives it a different feel while still staying true to the band’s sound. Many first heard “Can’t See The Light” on an episode of Grey’s Anatomy and were hooked immediately. It has a great sound with alternating vocals between males and females, which isn’t heard too often. Overall, it’s a great song for those who enjoy indie with a little bit of folk influence.
4. Fools Gold by One Direction:
One Direction has always been a favorite target of many haters. While they’re not what most people would consider talented musicians, this track has some redeemable qualities. The lyrics aren’t particularly deep or meaningful, and they can be repetitive at times, but it’s got a pretty good rhythm, and you can dance to it. While most people would be surprised to hear this song in a lineup of alternative or indie songs, it is one of their best releases. The lyrics are so relatable, and the vocals on this track are something special. It’s slower than what you’d expect from the band and focuses more on their harmonies than anything else, but it truly does make for a fantastic song.
5. Tenerife Sea by Ed Sheeran:
If you’re a fan of more mellow music with touching lyrics, this song is definitely for you. Tenerife Sea tells the story of a boy who misses his lover while he’s away at sea. He explains that he could never forget her because of how much she means to him. And, of course, his vocals are just beautiful. If you’re looking for something nice to put on while you’re studying or hanging out with friends, this is the perfect song. If you haven’t heard this song before, chances are you’ve heard about it. It has been covered constantly by other artists and is known as one of Sheeran’s best songs ever. Years later, though, people still adore this song, and many critics consider it one of Sheeran’s best songs ever.
6. Kaleidoscope Eyes by Panic! at the Disco:
This song is hands down one of my favorite songs ever. It has the perfect combination of rock and synth, making it super unique. Plus, the lyrics are beautiful and perfectly relate to what we all feel at some point or another during our teenage years: a longing for something more than what we have. This song has a special place in my heart and will always hold a special place in my Top 5 Favorite Songs of All Time List. This song is one of the best by the singer and is so underrated.
7. Get It Over With by Rihanna:
This song is one of the best on the Talk That Talk album. It has a very different sound than Rihanna’s other songs, but that doesn’t make it any less good. Plus, the lyrics are relatable (No shame in my game/there’s no need to pretend). Get It Over With is a dark and sexy song, yet it doesn’t get enough credit. The lyrics are interesting, and the beat is fantastic. I love Rihanna’s voice in this song, especially at 2:38 when she says, “get it over with.” This track deserves more attention than what it gets. If you feel like getting honest with your feelings, this song is one you’ll want to check out.
