Ayurveda – Basic Theories, Writer : Zufeshan Iqbal

Ayurveda is an ancient medical system of the Indian subcontinent. This system is believed to have originated in India 5,000 years ago. The word Ayurveda is a combination of the two Sanskrit words ‘Ayush’ which means life and ‘Veda’ which means ‘science’, so it literally means ‘science of life’. Unlike other medicine systems, Ayurveda focuses more on a healthy lifestyle rather than treating diseases. The main idea of Ayurveda is that it personalizes the healing process. Ayurveda treatment starts with an internal purification process, followed by a special diet, herbal remedies, massage therapy, yoga, and meditation.
According to Ayurveda, the human body is made up of four basic elements – defect (disease), metal (metal), feces (pollution), and fire (fire). In Ayurveda, these basics of the body are of immense importance. These are called the ‘basic principles’ of Ayurvedic treatment.

Concept of Life (Ayurveda)

In Ayurveda, the concept of life is in the of a group of body, senses, heart, and soul. The living person has three senses of humor (mouth, bile, and phlegm), seven basic tissues (plasma), blood, flesh, fat, bone marrow, and bone marrow. A reproductive cell is a group of body wastes such as feces, urine, and sweat. Thus the whole body template includes humor, tissues, and body wastes. The addition and subtraction of this bodily mold and its components revolve around food which is processed into humor, tissues, and waste.

The health and disease of ingestion, digestion, absorption, absorption, and metabolism are a reciprocal process that is greatly affected by psychological mechanisms and biological fire.

Health and disease are defined in a very special way in Ayurveda. Ayurveda’s central tenant is that life is a manifestation of mind, body, soul, and spirit. Body and mind are prone to suffering while the spirit is free of any such trappings of life. Thus to remain healthy and happy, efforts are required to be made in the direction of maintaining harmony among all these elements. And only then can one get closer to the goal of longevity and disease free life.

Illness Free Life

Ayurveda is also known as the science of living a healthy and illness free life. It is built on the premise that in the olden days, man used to live close to nature. And whenever he got exposed to some disease, he used to cure himself using resources and material provided by Mother Nature. It therefore would not be wrong to say that Ayurveda charts out a health patter based on nature and its natural resources.
